Lean Green Smoothie Bowl
I just got back from a long weekend in Austin, TX and lord knows I need a mini detox to clean out some of the booze and heavy Texas food from my system.
Sometimes green smoothies can get a little boring and we crave some crunch - but who says bowls are limited to acai and berries?
Greens are the most potent cleansing foods. They help to oxygenate the blood while supporting the clearing pathways of the body. Chlorophyll is what gives off that green pigment and is known as a natural body deodorizer.
Do not let the color intimidate you, it tastes like delicious creamy banana ice cream.
Recipe (serves 1-2)
Ingredients:
- 2 medium ripe bananas, frozen! (key for thick consistency)
- 1/2 cup choice of tropical fruit (mango, pineapple, peaches)
- 1/4 ripe avocado
- 1 large handful spinach
- 1 small handful kale, stems removed
- 1 - 2 cups unsweetened nut milk
- 1 Tbsp flaxseed meal
- 1 tsp spirulina or green powder
- Optional: 1 Tbsp salted creamy almond or peanut butter
TOPPINGS (optional)
- Granola
- Nuts or seeds
- Berries
- Shredded coconut
- Honey
Method
Blend smoothie ingredients in a high powered blender until completely smooth.
For thicker consistency, use less liquid for a thicker consistency.
